How do I add and use anchor links?

An anchor is a point that you can link to on a page that, when clicked, causes the page to jump to said point.

To create and link to an anchor on a single page:

  1. Open your site editor and click on the page in which you would like to add the anchor.
  2. Click on the “Main Content” area to open the page content editor.
  3. In your editor, position the cursor where you want the anchor (this would be where you want the page to scroll to when the anchor link is selected)
  4. Click the Anchor button in the middle row of text editor buttons
  5. Enter a name for the anchor and click the OK button
  6. Type in the text you want to link to the anchor in your preferred location; highlight the text and click the "Insert/Edit Link" button (the image of Earth with a chain link over it)
  7. Choose "Link to anchor in the text" for "Link Type"
  8. Select the anchor name from the drop-down list and click OK
  9. Click the "Save Changes" button if you are done editing the page

Note that if you link to an anchor at the bottom of a page, the anchor point will not go to the top since the page cannot scroll any farther. To prevent this, you can add a page worth of blank lines to the end of a page after the last of the content.

To link to an anchor on different page:

  1. Follow the above four steps
  2. Go back to your site editor and click on the page in which you would like to link to the previously-created anchor.
  3. Type in the text you want to link to the anchor in your preferred location; highlight the text and click the "Insert/Edit Link" button (the image of the Earth with a chain link over it)
  4. Paste in the address to the anchor into the "URL" field and click OK; the address you use should have the follow format: http://your domain/page/#anchor name
  5. Click the "Save Changes" button if you are done editing the page

For example, to link to an anchor that you have created and named "Email" on page a page called "Contact", you would use the following address: http://www.yourdomain.com/Contact.en.html#Email (where "yourdomain.com" is replaced with your site's domain name).

Note that you can get the http://your-domain/page address by going to the public page of your site that has the anchor and copying it as appears in the address bar of the browser. Also, you can right-click an anchor in your editor and choose "Anchor Properties" to see the name if you have forgotten.
